Today I am sharing a neat blogging tip to show how to make an animated GIF for your blog! What is an animated GIF? It is a file that shows simple movement (or animation) that you can upload to your blog. Here is an example:
I’ve made few of these fun GIFs to show the process of my crafts and I’ve received several requests from bloggers to share a tutorial on how I do it. Luckily, it’s SUPER easy! Here is one particular GIF that you might have seen from this post:
So, let’s get started, shall we?
First, you need to take a series of photos that tell a story or show the process of your craft coming together. Either use a tripod or simply try to hold your camera in a similar position. Then, edit each photo so that the colors are enhanced exactly the same way and that each image is the same size. I like to work with square images, but that’s up to you:)
Using Chrome as your browser (it will only work on Chrome), go to www.ImgFlip/GifGenerator and upload your images (not video). Before I uploaded them, I sized them to 600px by 600px so they would upload faster. Next, arrange your photos so that they are in the correct order. If you want to remove a photo, simply drag that photo into the area below your gallery which is shown in pink (below). Then, play with the delay time to see how fast or slow you think your GIF should be. After that, you want to adjust the size. I made my size 600 pixels for height and width because that’s how I originally wanted them.
Then, choose your quality (I usually go with 1 because it is the best) and check the “Private” box in the lower left corner.
Finally, click “Create GIF” and wait a few moments for things to come together. Once it is ready, you can select “Download GIF” and, if you’re working on a Mac like I am, then the GIF file will download down in the bottom left corner (shown in green).
You simply drag that little file onto your desktop (or wherever you prefer to save things). After that, you can upload the GIF file into your blog just like any other media file. If you are on Word Press like me, then simply add it to your media files and insert it into any post wherever you want!
How fun is that??
GIF files don’t necessarily play on each different social media outlet (like Pinterest or Facebook). But they DO, however, play on Google+ which is my favorite place to be. Here is my profile on Google+ where I LOVE to share and promote my new posts that have GIF files! Let me tell you, they are eye catching and attract attention! Woo hoo!
