Homemade dog treats are ridiculously easy to make at home and the dogs go crazy for them. Because store-bought dog treats get stale and are also made with added ingredients, these fresh-baked treats are the perfect way to show your pooch how much you care.

Homemade Dog Treats are the best way to show your pet that you love them like family!

And did we mention they’re super-easy? If you’ve got some organic peanut butter and whole-wheat flour in your pantry, then you’re halfway there. If you feel like making them extra special, use a cookie cutter to get the cute shape. You can find the dog bone cookie cutter HERE. Having a cute cookie cutter for your homemade dog treats is fun but not necessary. You can always just make traditional “cookies” with any cutter you have at home or even the bottom of a cup to make round cookies.

Homemade Dog Treats Ingredients

Remember, we are making these dog biscuits for DOGS, not humans. But the best part?? They smell good! The smell of peanut butter is so much better than the scent of some pre-made dog treats. These dog biscuits are people safe just in case you feel compelled to taste them. Some dogs are allergic to flour/wheat. If you want to make these wheat-free, you can use rice flour or coconut flour as a replacement. I have heard that some peanut butter brands are including xylitol to cut the sugar in their peanut butter. Do not use any peanut butter containing xylitol as it is not good for dogs.

As with anything you feed your pup, always take their individual health needs into consideration. You know your dogs best! Here are our two golden retrievers, Cindy and Chase. I’d love for you to send me a picture of your dog!

Homemade Dog Treats

Homemade Dog Treats using just 4 simple ingredients including Peanut Butter. Your dogs are sure to go crazy for these homemade treats!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Organic peanut butter Don't use any peanut butter containing xylitol (used to reduce sugar) as it is not good for dogs
  • 1 cup skim milk
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 cups whole-wheat flour, plus more for cutting out the cookies

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375℉
  • In a medium-size mixing bowl, combine the peanut butter and milk. Drizzling the milk in slowly will allow you to combine it more efficiently.
  • In another large mixing bowl, combine the baking powder and whole-wheat flour.
  • Slowly add the dry ingredients to the peanut butter-milk mixture. Combine all of the ingredients until thoroughly mixed.
  • On a sheet of parchment paper, sprinkle a tiny bit of wheat flour on the surface and roll out the dough to reach your desired dog treat thickness. Using your dog bone cookie cutters (find them here) cut out dog treats and place them onto a greased cookie sheet.
  • Bake for 15 to 20 minutes.
